INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will cover
An overview of common diseases, disorders & injuries as experienced by the range of the population.
Causes & risk factors of diseases, disorders and injuries, incorporating areas such as behavioural, genetic/biological, environmental, socioeconomic and psychological. These will be tailored to the particular disorders discussed.
Introduction to common treatment processes for the diseases, disorders and injuries highlighted.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Students will be required to undertake a choice between a pre-recorded presentation of five slides or the production of a double-sided A4 leaflet. The presentation/leaflet will focus on one common disease, disorder or injury chosen from a provided list. Students will outline common causes and risk factors, an overview of the symptoms and an anticipated treatment plan.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning will consist of lead lectures and seminars. It will be supplemented with online study materials and practical sessions. This module will undertake a case-study based approach, looking at a wide range of material to support student learning.
