Indicative Content
The aim of this module is to prepare you for nursing practice as a Nursing Associate.
The module will include the relevant minimum core standards for Mandatory and Statutory Training, only where it is not provided by your employer.
It will provide teaching and learning opportunities to develop your knowledge, understanding and necessary skills for them to start to take personal responsibility for becoming an accountable professional.
The student will develop the ability to perform a range of clinical and practical care skills that are required to provide and monitor care, within the legal, ethical and professional frameworks.
Students should develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to achieve high-quality person-centred care/family centred care, that encompasses communication and introduce the holistic nursing process.
Nutrition and Hydration – fluid balance monitoring and recording
Clinical observations
Clinical Assessment to include skin hygiene, collecting samples and the risk these pose to personal and patient safety.
Pain, assessment, understanding, care of patient in pain.
Emergency first aid
Basic mental health first aid.
Learning Strategies
Work based learning during employment and protected learning time.
Negotiation of learning contracts with practice assessor and practice supervisor.
Simulated learning using clinical scenarios
