Module Additional Assessment Details
A presentation of 20 minutes duration which may be delivered online or in person. Using an example from practice, demonstrate your understanding of your role in the care of an individual with two or more health issues. This should also consider the impact of your role on the individual and others who may be involved.

Module Indicative Content
An introduction to your role in the care and treatment of individuals with a variety of health-related presentations
An understanding of a range of acute and long-term conditions, aims of treatments and potential complications, including assessment and care (LO 1, 2, 3)
Communication with patients, their families and the multidisciplinary team (LO1)
Nursing in a range of settings and the variations in the organisation of patient care within these (LO 3)
Nursing assessment and care planning, caring for the whole person and the family/carers (LO 1 & 3)
Fundamental nursing interventions such as assessments and essential treatments (LO 1 & 3)
Introduction to the theories underpinning nursing care, for example the biology of health and disease, the nursing process (LO 2)
Introduction to the care of people having treatments and procedures such as surgery, medication (LO 2 & 3)
Recognition and avoidance of hazards to vulnerable people and the concept of iatrogenesis (LO 2 & 3)
