Module Additional Assessment Details
ALL PARTS MUST BE PASSED
Practice Assessment: this is done through the MYE PAD DOCUMENT which is a record of achievement of the Professional Values in practice and NMC 2018 Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency Part 1 (LO 1 & 4)

Written Reflection: completion of two pieces of reflection (one for Practice Learning Period 1 and one for Practice Learning Period 2 each being 1000 words). These will cover two platforms within the NMC 2018 Future Nurse
Standards of Proficiency: Platform 2 – Promoting health and preventing ill health; and Platform 4 – Providing and evaluating care (LO 2 & 3).

Episode of care: The practice assessor/supervisors and students will identify an appropriate episode of direct care involving meeting the needs of a person/family receiving care. Professionalism underpins all aspects of the student’s performance. The aim of this assessment is to demonstrate the student’s progression within the NMC 2018 Future
Nurse: Standards of Proficiency (LO 3).
Module Indicative Content
Mandatory skills including:

Moving and Handling

Resuscitation

Infection prevention and control, use of personal protective equipment, hand decontamination, universal precautions

Skills and Simulation:

Introduction to risk assessment tools to determine need for support and intervention

Medicines management

Numeracy

Emergency First Aid

Mental Health First Aid

Holistic Assessment to include:

Deteriorating patient

Clinical observations: Blood pressure, pulse, respirations and O2 saturation, temperature and capillary refill monitoring and recording

Height and weight, Body Mass Index measurement

Elimination and assistance as appropriate

Collecting samples (e.g. urine, sputum and stool)

Nutrition and hydration – to include breast feeding

Fluid balance monitoring and recording

Skin assessment and hygiene needs

Rest, sleep and comfort in practice

Respond appropriately to uncontrolled symptoms


Reflection/reflective practice
