ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
1. Written reflection – this will require reflection upon a clinical scenario. This scenario will be chosen from Semester 1 and will be linked to ONE of the following NMC Platforms; Platform 1, being an accountable professional, Platform 2, promoting health and preventing ill health or Platform 3, provide and monitor care. Learners will use a reflective model to structure their work. (LO 1, 2 and 3)
Formative assessment and feedback from Academic Assessor regarding professional values and proficiency progression end of placement.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
Theory and practice:
The module will include the relevant minimum core standards for Mandatory and Statutory Training, only where it is not provided by your employer.
It will provide teaching and learning opportunities to develop your knowledge, understanding and necessary skills to start to take personal responsibility for becoming an accountable professional in a range of nursing and care environments.
The module will develop the apprentice's ability to perform a range of clinical and practical care skills that are required to provide and monitor care, within the legal, ethical and professional frameworks and across all four fields of nursing, Adult, Mental Health, Child and Learning Disabilities
The module should develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to achieve high-quality person-centred care/family centred care, that encompasses communication and introduce the holistic nursing process across all four fields of nursing, Adult, Mental Health, Child and Learning Disabilities
Numeracy in nursing / drug calculations – SafeMedicate launch and Foundation Numeracy Assessment
Infection prevention and control (Chain of infection, basics of microbiology, use of PPE, hand decontamination, universal precautions)
Medicines management (Legal and professional aspects, safe administration, oral, injectable medicines) to include documentation and record-keeping.
Clinical Observations – normal parameters and A-E assessment – theory and practice to include documentation/record-keeping
