Module Indicative Content
Students will have an overview of a range of evidence based interventions including medication, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, family interventions, systems theory, brief solution focused therapy and developing life skills in both individual and group treatment settings. Students will examine the theoretical base that underpins these therapies, identifying both strengths and weaknesses of these approaches.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students will provide a recorded demonstration (either video or audio taped) of a discussion (approx 30 minutes) with a person in a service user role, about the efficacy of treatment options for a particular mental health issue (contributes to meeting Learning Outcome 1). This discussion can be practise based (with appropriate consent) or a simulated demonstration to meet the needs of the assignment. (Weighting 50%) This demonstration will be accompanied by a 1000 word reflection on the recorded session (Weighting 50%) (contribute to meeting LO's 2 and 3)
both elements of assessment must be passed

Students will undertake role play to enable them to prepare for assessment. Students will recieve formative feedback on role plays

This module assists students in developing their understanding of mental health interventions that are commonly used in mental health services, for example brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, medication management etc.
