Module Indicative Content
The module will explore the nature of customer and stakeholder relationships within the health care environment. This will focus on the role and power of public, patient and wider stakeholder involvement in relation to the implementation of health policy and the importance of communicating key health messages across the wider community. The context for this will be the multi-professional, multi-disciplinary nature of health care and the need to work effectively across organisational boundaries to both understand and influence stakeholder interests. The module will also include the requirement to undertake a project on a chosen health-related issue relevant to the course whilst on a work experience placement.
Key topic areas within the module will include:
Communication and influencing skills,
Dealing with, and effectively using, the media,
Principles of Social Marketing,
Professional/public engagement (eg Transactional Analysis technique),
Group facilitation techniques,
Dealing with complaints, confidentiality and Principles and Values underpinning the NHS Constitution
Work experience in an area to support the presentation and reflective account.

In order to support the project, sessions will be provided on basic project management skills.
