Module Additional Assessment Details
There are two parts of the assessment
A profile of evidence with sections that have supporting evidence of achievement of all LO's. The profile of evidence will Include a 1500 word reflective assignment, weighted 60%
The profile and assignment to be discussed at a 20 minute viva voce, assessing all LO's, weighted 40%
Both elements to be passed
Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative assessment draft work to be reviewed during tutorials. Electronic feedback. To guide student towards final summative assessment
Formative seminar presentation of a case study
Module Special Admissions Requirements
Study required at level 4 evidenced and agreed in writing by the employer/ sponsor
Module Indicative Content
This module will enable the student to develop the skills and knowledge required to support people with dementia and improve service provision. It will explore and consider the micro and macro aspects of care delivery and provision which enhance the care experience for people with dementia.
Models and symptoms of dementia, including the diagnosis and process of different forms of dementia.
Assessing the needs for people with dementia, including social, psychological biological and spiritual needs.
Theories and models of person centred and family centred care.
Developing communication skills including communication models and strategies for service users, families, and carers.
Theories and approaches to the understanding of behaviours that challenge.
Working in partnership with service users, families and carers in developing care plans for people with dementia
