Pre-requisites: Enrolled on Nursing Associate programme
Admissions requirements: Employment with a relevant healthcare organisation. Access to practice learning environment as a trainee Nursing Associate.

Assessment Details
A 20 minute presentation (which may be a narrated PowerPoint for example) which displays, through analysis of the data, a health profile which identifies a health need. Explore how that need can be addressed and improved through promoting health on a one to one or group basis as part of your role.
The summative assessment must be passed.
Indicative Content
An introduction to public health and health promotion, understanding the principles of prevention, protection and promotion.
An exploration of the range of factors which will impact on health outcomes for the individual including, social influences, individual circumstances, behaviours and lifestyle choices across the life span.
To be able to explain and support preventative health behaviours to enable people to make lifestyle choices to improve their mental, physical, cognitive health and wellbeing.
To explore a range of health protection and improvement strategies including; health screening, immunisation and vaccination to promote health and avoid ill health. To include infection prevention and communicable disease surveillance and to consider how genomics may influence health in the future.
