ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Written reflection linked to Platform 3 – Assessing and planning care.

Undertake and episode of care which is assessed in clinical practice.

Written reflection – this will require reflection upon a scenario. This can be hypothetical or chosen from placement 5 and will be linked to platform 3, assessing and planning care. Students will use a reflective model to structure their work. (LO 1 & 2). Formative episode of care in practice. Formative feedback for proficiency progression by Academic Assessor at end

Assessment of urinary and bowel incontinence/use of continence products/self-catheterisation/manual evacuation Nutritional assessment and supporting nutrition – nasogastric insertion and management; gastrostomy management, parenteral nutritional support.

WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module aims to build your knowledge, experience and skills around mental health nursing care with a specific focus upon practical skills and reflective practice. The module links to practice learning period 5. You will undertake study related to the underpinning theory around common practical skills related to mental health nursing care alongside having the opportunity to develop those practical skills by undertaking simulated practice within the University Skills and Simulation Labs. You will continue to develop an understanding of evidence-based practice and practical skills that are required to fulfil the role of the mental health nurse.
