Care across the lifespan in care home settings; Policy and political background to health and social care; Multidisciplinary and interprofessional working; Professional issues and accountability; Statutory regulations and standards; Quality assurance; Funding and finance; Choice, advocacy, patient, person and relationship centred care; Transition from independent living into permanent care; The relatives' perspective; dealing with complaints; Psychology of ageing; Ageing and keeping well; Theories of ageing; mental health; Loss; End of life care including the Gold Standards Framework and advanced care planning; Reflective practice.
Module Additional Assessment Details
(1) Poster presenting guidelines for positive transitions into a new care setting from independent living or another residential setting, with supporting rationale and linked to the case study presented in assignment 2 (poster presentation) 50% (contributes to meeting LO's 3&4)

(2) Reflective piece (2000 words) linked to a case study presented on a resident's transition into a care setting from independent living or another residential / care setting 50% (contributes to meeting LO's 1&2)

Both elements must be passed to successfully complete the module

Formative assessment will include a work based activity in the form of a reflective diary allowing the student to reflect upon admissions and discharges from and to the home using a reflective model of the students choice. This will be maintained by the student and used for discussion and as a tool to aid the writing of Summative assessments 1 and 2. Formative feedback will be provided to the students around their reflective work and during pre-submission tutorials for assignments 1 and 2.
