Module Additional Assessment Details
The assessment for this module will comprise:
A written reflective assignment of 3000 words analysing the care provided to a child or young person. This will assess all learning outcomes and is weighted as 100%
Asynchronous discussion forum that utilises evidence to support discussion around delivering care to children and young people in health settings. This will involve a minimum of 2 submissions for each of the terms - maximum wordage per submission 500 words. (assessing LO's 2 & 4 ) pass/fail
Both elements of assessment need to be passed to achieve the module.

Physical and psychosocial development of infants, children and young people
Principles of communication with children and their families
Child perspectives of concepts of health and illness
Use and management of play and distraction during assessment and treatment
Therapeutic holding
Assessment and management of pain
Pharmacology and drug calculations
Recognition of the sick child and rapid assessment of the acutely ill child including some medical conditions and paediatric basic life support
Safe guarding children
Child consent, children's rights and parental responsibility
Family centred care
Health policy and contemporary guidance relating to children

Module Special Admissions Requirements
The course is designed for Healthcare professionals who are not specifically qualified in Children¿s health care but have/ may have contact with children in their working environment. Access to child specific clinical practice areas would be beneficial.
This module cannot be studied with An introduction for healthcare professionals to the care of children and young people (HEN63033-6)
