Module Additional Assessment Details
The production of a portfolio of evidence of role and skill development, and an Action Plan for future continuing professional development.
The Portfolio of Evidence must include:
One longer piece of fully referenced critical reflective writing, which reflectively analyses how you have developed personally and professionally (including your practice) since commencing the Preceptorship programme. This reflective piece must be underpinned by sound theoretical knowledge and understanding and be a maximum of 2000 words.
A minimum of 4 SWOT Analyses and a minimum of 4 Learning Contracts.
Evidence of meeting all KSF competencies and preceptorship requirements (evidence could include testimonies of clinical practice, witness statements, and evaluation of study days and peer observation). Evidence of achieving outcomes must be verified by Preceptor. A short reflection / reflective diary is to be included for each KSF competency.
A minimum of 4 Records of Supervision (with your Preceptor).
An Action Plan for future continuing professional development. (This should be related to the longer piece of reflective writing).
Assessment meets all learning outcomes
Formative Assessment:
Presentation of the Portfolio of Evidence content and discussion of critical reflections.
Module Indicative Content
This module provides practitioners with the opportunity to demonstrate professional development and enhancement of their clinical practice through a work-based learning approach.
It is a vehicle by which individual practitioners can evidence completion of their preceptorship and demonstrate how they are developing as competent, accountable and autonomous professionals. It will include practice learning and competence enhancement from work-based activities, including workshops and study days within the work-environment.
This module allows practitioners to demonstrate how they have enhanced their learning and improved their professional practice. This may be through:
Participation in work-based professional development programme (such as newly qualified nurse programme)
Developing patient/client care
Mentoring more junior staff or students
Peer observation
Clinical supervision
Critical reflection
Module Learning Strategies
This module is work-based and designed around student need and aims. The majority of learning hours for this module are work-based and are located within the independent study hours, which will also include underpinning reading and compilation of evidence for the portfolio.
Student contact hours are based upon a series of workshops, explaining and exploring the methods of achieving the module outcomes. In addition, there will be the opportunity to access group and individual tutorial support, in order to develop the evidence within the portfolio.
