Ability to study at level 6 will be determined via the completion of a sample award assignment and assessment by Education lead and Faculty academic staff
Module Additional Assessment Details
There are two parts to the summative assessment

A 3000 word written reflective assignment on how the course has raised your awareness of care of people with dementia and how this may affect your approach in the future assessing LO's 1, 2, 3 and 4, weighted 50%

30 minute Viva Voce assessing all LO's, weighted 50%

Both parts must be passed

Additional Assessment Details (include formative feedback / assessment):
Formative assessment draft work to be reviewed during tutorials. Electronic feedback. To guide student towards final summative assessment
Formative seminar presentation of a case study
Module Indicative Content
This module will enable the student to develop the skills and knowledge required to support people with dementia and improve service provision. It will explore and consider the micro and macro aspects of care delivery and provision which enhance the care experience for people with dementia.

Theories and models of dementia diagnosis and assessment.
Overview of a range of evidence based interventions including medication, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and family interventions.
Listening to and working with service users with dementia and their carer/s through partnership and collaboration.
Causes of dementia: including pathophysiology.
Assessment and diagnosis: including talking with families about the diagnosis.
Assessing outcomes in dementia care: including talking with families about the diagnosis.
Service design and development including multi-disciplinary, collaborative working and care provision.
Measuring, monitoring and improving outcomes in dementia care.
Implementing models of support for palliative and end of life care, including support and care delivery for service users families and carers
