Module Additional Assessment Details
A Power point presentation - development of a power point presentation which details an identified health need for a selected population in the workplace setting and shows an outline of a health improvement strategy. (Contributes to LO's 1, 2 and 5)
The power point presentation, to peer group, critically reflects and analyses an identified need, health improvement strategy and practitioners role within it detailed within the presentation. (Contributes to meeting LO's 3 and 5)
A clinical practice portfolio comprising four essential outcomes detailed in the module handbook (achieves all learning outcomes)
A one hour unseen examination comprising a choice of two case scenarios (contributes to meeting LO's 4 and 5)

Formative Feedback :
Group work, case scenario discussions, student presentations, mock exam, group and individual tutorial

All elements off assessment must be passed

Module Indicative Content
This module will provide theoretical underpinning and skills methodology that supports leadership and evidenced based practice in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing. The student will focus that learning within a particular setting dependant upon their chosen annotated route.
This module content will include:
A historical and global analysis of modern public health and the role of public health nursing within it
The search for health needs:
through the surveillance and assessment of a defined population's health and well being by collecting, interpreting, analysing and presenting data with the aim of improving health and well being.
Stimulation of awareness of health needs:
understanding and translating into practice different strategies of engagement with individuals, groups and communities to develop team working and participate in collaborative partnerships, building upon individual and group and community resources to improve health and wellbeing.
Influencing policies affecting health:
An exploration of theoretical and ideological frameworks in relation to current central and local policy and healthy public policy. Identification and appraisal of those policies which impact on a defined populations health and well being and identification and evaluation of service provision and support networks for individuals, families in a defined community and route specified setting.
Facilitation of health enhancing activities:
engaging in team work and partnership with colleagues to develop strategies for health improvement with individuals, groups and communities including health protection, prevention , screening and risk assessment.
