The assessment strategy for this module involves formative and summative methods.
Summative:
Clinical competency portfolio (incorporating Trust competencies) or equivalent evidence PASS/FAIL (contributes to meeting LO’s 1 and 3).

A 3000 word critically reflective essay (contributes to meeting LO’s 2 and 4)

All elements of summative assessment must be passed in order to complete the module successfully.

Formative assessment:
Is provided to participants by means of continuous monitoring and constructive feedback given by lecturers and mentors during the module; group discussions; tutorials; work completed on VLE (Moodle)


INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module will enable registered healthcare practitioners to acquire and develop knowledge, skill and competence in Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT); Medicines Administration and Management; Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Venepuncture and/or Cannulation. Participants will gain psychomotor and cognitive skills, learning how to synthesise these in order to deliver holistic patient care.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
Scheduled Learning and Teaching Activities: (40 hours)
35 hours of direct contact – lectures & simulated sessions
5 hours tutorials

Guided Independent Study: (260 hours)
260 hours of self directed study

Supervised Clinical Practice: (120 hours)
120 hours supervised clinical practice with nominated mentor(s) – approximately 1 day per week for 16 weeks
