INDICATIVE CONTENT
The aim of this module is to build and further enhance the skills developed in previous modules It will enable you to progress your skills and lead the design, delivery and evaluation of care delivery in a variety of settings across the lifespan.

- Professional, legal, and ethical standards related to complex care
- Managing complex situations where vulnerability and safeguarding may be of concern
- Self-awareness and recognition of own limitations in assessing and delivering nursing care to those experiencing complex healthcare needs
- liaising with the wider multi-disciplinary team and other agencies (including advocacy) as appropriate to ensure that individual needs are met
- Inter professional communication
- Holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet the needs of adults with complex health problems considering individual dignity, spirituality and culture, including pregnant women, people with co- morbidities, multiple organ failure and those needing palliative interventions
- Managing people with symptoms that are difficult to control such as chronic pain, fatigue and breathlessness
- The deteriorating patient: recognition, assessment and monitoring
- The care of people with acute/ critical problems including respiratory distress, hypotension, altered levels of consciousness , oliguria
- Acute symptom management such as pain nausea and vomiting
- The care of people with acute and life threatening health problems
- Sudden death and bereavement
- Contemporary care dilemmas: for example, Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR) orders, organ transplantation, advanced directives
- Clinical decision making , triage and prioritisation of care including `managing the unknown¿
- Medicine management in adult nursing - including drug administration (simulation) , pharmacology, drug interactions and anaphylaxis
- Risk assessment and management including the prevention and control of infection and medical devices
- Mandatory skills sessions
- Core and field specific skills
- Group based- clinical supervision
- Utilisation of local and national policies and robust evidence based literature to inform clinical nursing practice and decision making.
