Mandatory Skills – Moving and Handling
Basic Life Support (Adult, Child, Infant and AED use) and awareness of advanced life support
Infection prevention and control (Chain of infection/Standard Precautions), antimicrobial stewardship
Medicines management
Drug calculations/numeracy for nursing
Recognise, respond and manage uncontrolled symptoms

Advanced respiratory care and management

WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module aims to build your knowledge, experience and skills around children’s nursing care with a specific focus upon practical skills and reflective practice. The module links to practice learning period 7. You will undertake study related to the underpinning theory around common practical skills related to children’s nursing care alongside having the opportunity to develop those practical skills by undertaking simulated practice within the University Skills and Simulation Labs. You will continue to develop an understanding of evidence-based practice and practical skills that are required to fulfil the role of the children’s nurse.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Written reflection ¿ this will require reflection upon a clinical scenario. This scenario should relate to experiences and learning opportunities presented in placement 7 and will be linked to platform 7, coordinating care. Learners will use a reflective model to structure their work (LO 1, LO 2 & LO 3)
