Infection prevention and control (Chain of infection/Standard Precautions).
Medicines management
Drug calculations/numeracy for nursing
Therapeutic interventions
Difficult conversations including breaking bad news, supporting those who are feeling emotionally or physically vulnerable
or in distress
Spirituality and spiritual care
Care of the dying person and support of their significant others
Organ and tissue donation, advanced planning decisions, living wills and health and lasting powers of attorney.
Reflective practice to enhance care and professional development

LEARNING STRATEGIES
In addition to the 200 hours theoretical learning, students are required to complete the practical component (240hrs) in line with regulatory body requirements.

WEB DESCRIPTORS
This module aims to build your knowledge, experience and skills around adult nursing care with a specific focus upon practical skills and reflective practice. The module links to practice learning period 7. You will undertake study related to the underpinning theory around common practical skills related to adult nursing care alongside having the opportunity to develop those practical skills by undertaking simulated practice within the University Skills and Simulation Labs. You will continue to develop an understanding of evidence-based practice and practical skills that are required to fulfil the role of the adult nurse.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Written reflection ¿ this will require reflection upon a clinical scenario. This scenario should relate to experiences and learning opportunities presented in placement 7 and will be linked to platform 7, coordinating care. Learners will use a reflective model to structure their work (LO 1, LO 2 & LO 3)
