ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Written reflection linked to NMC Platform 7 – Coordinating care.

Written reflection – this will require reflection upon a clinical scenario. This scenario can be hypothetical or chosen from placement 7 and will be linked to platform 7, coordinating care. Learners will use a reflective model to structure their work. (LO 1 and 2). Formative assessment and feedback from Academic Assessor regarding proficiency progression endof placement.

Mandatory Skills – Moving and Handling

Basic Life Support (Adult, Child, Infant and AED use) and awareness of advanced life support Infection prevention and control (Chain of infection/Standard Precautions).
Medicines management

Drug calculations/numeracy for nursing

Difficult conversations including breaking bad news, supporting those who are feeling emotionally or physically vulnerable or in distress

Spirituality and spiritual care

Care of the dying person and support of their significant others

Organ and tissue donation, advanced planning decisions, living wills and health and lasting powers of attorney.

WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module aims to build your knowledge, experience and skills around adult nursing care with a specific focus upon practical skills and reflective practice. The module links to practice learning period 7. You will undertake study related to the underpinning theory around common practical skills related to adult nursing care alongside having the opportunity to develop those practical skills by undertaking simulated practice within the University Skills and Simulation Labs. You will continue to develop and demonstrate an understanding of evidence-based practice and practical skills that are required to fulfil the role of the adult nurse.
