MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Demonstrate a systematic knowledge and understanding of the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus.
2. Critically evaluate the treatments and therapies used in diabetes mellitus when applied to the care and management of a patient with diabetes
3. Apply and evaluate knowledge of the epidemiology, psychological, social, transcultural and educational aspects of diabetes mellitus to patient care.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative Assessment
40 minute presentation to a panel (30 min presentation and 10 min panel questions) which critically evaluates, analyses and reflects on a specific diabetic care issue (taken from your reflective diary) and making specific recommendations for practice development in your diabetes care. The presentation must include reference to relevant policies, research, guidelines and developments as appropriate, when considering diabetes care and management. (100% weighting -
Addresses all learning outcomes).

3000 word written assignment which critically evaluates, analyses and reflects on a specific diabetic care issue (taken from your reflective diary) and making specific recommendations for practice development in your diabetes care. The presentation must include reference to relevant policies, research, guidelines and developments as appropriate, when considering diabetes care and management. (100% weighting - Addresses all learning outcomes).
Formative assessment:
Personal reflective diary on diabetic care during the module from which the diabetic care issue to be explored for summative assignment is derived.
