Module Learning Strategies
300 hours, of which 40 will be lectures, tutorials and learning groups, a minimum of 150 fieldwork hours, and the rest directed/ independent study. Lectures will involve a range of interactive teaching methods.This module will include the use of five learning strategies:
A series of weekly taught sessions involving traditional lecturing and seminars that will introduce and explore the applied subject knowledge
Student-led problem-based enquiry sets to connect theory and practice
Individual and group tutorials to support learning progression
The completion of a professional handbook to aid reflective practice/evidence competency
Fieldwork Tutor visits to practice locations to support practice development and monitor the required fieldwork hours (150) during this module.

Module Indicative Content
The aim of this module is to explore the range of skills, responsibilities and concepts associated with quality management in youth work and ministry. It will encourage the critical evaluation of management and organisational theory and require students to apply tools associated with quality assurance and evaluation. Students will build on their understanding of 'Principles for Professional Practice' through considering their role as leaders, co-ordinators and enablers in the delivery of high quality youth work and ministry.

The syllabus for this module will include key aspects of applied subject knowledge, including:
Theories of management and organisational structure
Using quality assurance tools and systems
Evaluating personal and organisational practice
Cultures associated with continuous improvement
Leading and managing teams and individuals in youth work and ministry
Networking as a significant aspect of practice
Inter-professional and inter-disciplinary working
Distinctive cultures of third sector organisations, especially faith communities
Identifying vision and values in youth work and ministry
Developing strategic objectives and specialism in youth work and ministry
Module Additional Assessment Details
GROUP ASSIGNMENT length 1,400 WORDS weighted at 20%. The group assignment will require students to carry out a quality assurance exercise within the organisation of one of their peer group and produce a group report with recommendations for securing quality youth work and ministry. (Learning Outcomes 2,3,4)

REFLECTIVE ASSIGNMENT length 2,100 WORDS weighted at 30%. The reflective assignment will require students to articulate their learning from practice and its relationship to professional and ministerial formation in youth work and ministry. (Learning Outcome 1, 4, 5)

ESSAY length 3,500 WORDS weighted at 50%. The essay will require students to critically engage with a key aspect of professional youth work practice that may form part of an ongoing area for professional specialism or development (Learning Outcome 1, 2, 4, 5)

FIELDWORK PRACTICE REPORT weighted at 0%. A Professional Practice Report (4,000 words) and a completed Professional Practice Workbook of fieldwork evidence related to specific first level competency areas. (Learning Outcome 5, 6)
