Module Learning Strategies
150 hours, of which 30 will involve interactive lectures, student presentations of texts read and seminars and the rest independent study. Interactive lectures involve a combination of brainstorming, presentations and other interactive teaching methods.
Module Indicative Content
The aim of this module is to explore the theoretical, theological and professional implications relating to the future development of youth work and ministry. Its theoretical and experiential learning prepares students for aspects of management, development and training responsibilities in youth work and ministry posts. A brief resume of current structural and philosophical paradigms of youth work and ministry are compared to, and contrasted with, emerging paradigm shifts and projected future trends. Students are helped to develop creativity, lateral thinking and synergy in considering new approaches. The methodology, skills and techniques required of such youth work and ministry are considered. Students investigate strategic, management and developmental implications for both national and local youth policy. Philosophical theology framework is developed and critiqued.
