Module Learning Strategies
This module will include the use of five learning strategies:
-A series of weekly taught sessions involving traditional lecturing and seminars that will introduce and explore the applied subject knowledge
-Student led problem-based enquiry sets linked to the group assignment
-Individual and group tutorials to support learning progression
-The continued use of an on-line portfolio to aid reflective practice/evidence competency
-Tutor visits to practice locations to assess professional practice and monitor the required fieldwork hours (148) during this module.

Module content and assessment will support the identification of evidence for youth work and ministry competencies: 2.4; 3.3; 4.1; 4.2; 4.3; 4.4; 5.2
Module Indicative Content
The aim of this module is to explore the range of skills, responsibilities and concepts associated with quality management in youth work and ministry. It will encourage the critical evaluation of management and organisational theory and require students to apply tools associated with quality assurance and evaluation. Students will build on their understanding of 'Principles for Professional Practice' through considering their role as leaders, co-ordinators and enablers in the delivery of high quality youth work and ministry.

The syllabus for this module will include key aspects of applied subject knowledge, including:
-Theories of management and organisational structure
-Networking as a significant aspect of practice
-Distinctive cultures of third sector organisations, especially faith communities
-Leading and managing teams and individuals in youth work and ministry
-Inter-professional and inter-disciplinary working
-Identifying vision and values in youth work and ministry
-Developing strategic objectives and operational models in youth work and ministry
-Using quality assurance tools and systems
-Evaluating personal and organisational practice
-Cultures associated with continuous improvement
Module Special Admissions Requirements
A full CRB clearance is required for commencing the module due to the practice requirements relating to work with young people and vulnerable adults.
Module Additional Assessment Details
Students must pass all elements.

The group assignment (1400 words) will require students to carry out a quality assurance exercise within the organisation of one of the peer group and produce a report with recommendations.[Learning Outcomes 2,3,4]

The reflective assignment will require students to articulate their learning from practice and its relationship to professional and ministerial formation in youth work and ministry.[Learning Outcomes 1,4,5]

The essay will require students to critically engage with the operational methods and strategic direction adopted within their youth work and ministry placement. [Learning Outcomes 1,2,4,5]
