Module Indicative Content
This module begins with a focus on pastoral ministry with people undergoing various life experiences, including suffering, change and developing maturity. It investigates psychological models of development, and of loss and bereavement, to inform exploration of pastoral responses in such situations. The skills of listening and responding, and the various resources available to those in pastoral ministry are explored. The module goes on to focus on the goal of community formation. It investigates emotional literacy and relational health with particular attention to understanding anger and fear. Frameworks for understanding conflict in communities, and strategies of responding transformatively to it, are explored.
Module Learning Strategies
This module continues the three inter-related learning strategies for the programme. Taught workshops consist of interactive presentations, discussion, and critical debate. Tutorials allow discussion of the individual research that students are undertaking to prepare their assignments. Independent study allows reading around selected topics, the development of individual responses to the reading and the preparation for the assessed presentation and essay.
