Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module provides Peri-operative practitioners with the opportunity to demonstrate the development and enhancement of their clinical practice, through a work-based learning approach. It is a vehicle by which individual practitioners can demonstrate how they are keeping up-to-date with professional and practice developments. It will enable practitioners to establish evidence of Peri-operative care learning and competence enhancement from work-based activities which could also be used for renewal of professional registration.
This module allows Peri-operative practitioners to demonstrate how they have enhanced their knowledge and skills. This may be through:
- Participation in established in-service programmes;
- Developing patient/client care services;
- Mentoring/supervising staff or students;
- Managing care;
- Attendance at university-based workshops addressing key issues relating to theatre practice
- Involvement in projects or research
Module Learning Strategies
This module is a work-based student centred design, which takes account of the individual student's personal development needs. The majority of the learning will be independent study. This will be divided - identified clinical development, supportive reading and the compilation of evidence for the portfolio. The student will require the support of an identified mentor, who is able to facilitate clinical learning opportunities and verify the currency of the evidence included within the portfolio.
Student contact hours will include workshops to explore methods of achieving the personal development plan and learning outcomes. Group and individual tutorials as well as access to supportive educational materials through Blackboard VLE
