This module will allow you to explore secondary research surrounding a topic chosen by yourself, you will interpret the quality of research and the application of ethics in the research process and formulate an extended literature review to draw a conclusion to your chosen research aim.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
In this module you will cover topics including evidence-based practice, identifying what a literature review looks like and how to correctly structure a literature review, hierarchy of evidence, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and synthesis to include basic statistics and thematic analysis.. You will identify what role the Operating Department Practitioner plays in research and rationale behind research areas. You will develop your understanding of ethical principles of research building upon knowledge gained at level 5.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative assessment
This is a 4000-word extended literature review (you are not expected to complete primary research and you do not need to find a solution to your question to meet the assignment brief.) You are encouraged to base your enquiry on a problem/situation you have encountered during your time on the course

You will be given headings to follow to provide the structure of your Extended Literature Review

The Data extraction tool is a compulsory element and must be submitted as an appendix.

To pass the module you must achieve at least 40% for your extended literature review.

All learning outcomes must be covered within the extended literature review.
