Module Details
Module Indicative Content
Through the use of relevant case studies and application of appropriate concepts, models and theories, the following areas of purchasing will be covered:

- The global purchasing environment (external)
- Role and scope of purchasing (internal) and fit with organisational strategies / the benefits of effective purchasing
- Systems and procedures in purchasing
- Working with suppliers (supplier management)
- Legal aspects of purchasing
- Corporate Social Responsibility & environmental factors in purchasing
- Benchmarking
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for the module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment) of this there will be 36 hours of class support and 114 hours of independent and self directed study (12 hours of formal lectures/large group activities, 24 hours of tutorials). Learning support materials will be provided by the module leader.
