ASSESSMENT DETAILS
An assignment of 3000 words (100%) (Learning outcomes 1-3). The assignment will encompass the student’s knowledge and research in strategic planning of business warehouse operations and effective identification and deployment of resources to meet business requirements.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module is designed to introduce students to the strategic process concepts required in Logistics operational management and will cover the key areas of:
- The movement of goods in the context of a total logistics strategic business concept. In addition the module will introduce students to.
- Location of Logistics Operations and the drivers of global location choice aligned to business need and strategic resource planning
- Movement of goods within the supply chain (national and international) aligned to business and customer requirements
- Planning and execution of Receiving goods into storage, efficient order assembly and dispatch logistics, resource and contingency planning
- Strategic Warehousing management systems operation and performance review / quality control.
- The provision, availability and deployment of warehouse and logistics resources. Resource utilisation and use of ICT (Warehouse Management Systems) to ensure lean processes and agile performance.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 36 hours of class support and 114 hours of independent and self directed study.
The class sessions will include formal lectures, case study analysis and group discussions based on student research and in the subject area. Students will be encouraged to integrate their new knowledge and skills developed in the classroom as the module progresses.
