ASSESSMENT DETAILS
An individual ASSIGNMENT in management style reporting format of length 3,000 WORDS weighted at 100% based on an approved contemporary supply chain management issue identified within the workplace or in relation to a case study which assesses all module Learning Outcomes.
INDICATIVE CONTENT
The module will cover a variety of supply chain management concepts, theories, principles and models which highlight the importance of the supply chain for the effective and efficient running of contemporary organisations.
The following specific topics will be included:
• Evolution of supply chain terminology and concepts
• The supply challenge
• Strategic drivers and approaches to supply chain strategy
• Evaluation of the external supply chain environment
• Supply chain configurations
• Effective supplier selection
• Managing effective supplier relationships
• Managing on-going supply chain performance
• Evolution of supply chain management – continuous improvement principles
• Legal aspects of purchasing
• Principles of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ethics in the supply chain
• Future challenges in supply chain management
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Module learning hours are broken down into 24hrs of ‘scheduled learning and teaching activities’ comprising predominantly lectures/seminars/tutorials, which take place during study days arranged at the start and periodically through the module, but may include some on-line activities. This is supported by 72hrs of ‘guided independent study’, comprising pre-reading ahead of study days, formative tasks submitted on-line, for review and feedback from the tutor and the student cohort, supplemented by additional directed reading, self-help tests and completion of assessment tasks/revision.
For the remainder of the learning hours students are expected to regularly engage with the learning material on Blackboard, by working through the material to reinforce the learning. Students will have additional support from the Module Tutor via email and/or phone.
