Module Indicative Content
This module is designed to explore the research and investigation process, and to provide an opportunity for students to identify, through negotiation with their tutor, a relevant topic for their own investigation based on salon management, hairdressing, beauty therapy or complementary therapy. Students will be guided through the literature search and review process, and the development of a project proposal in which they select an appropriate, ethical method of investigation. The module will culminate in a pilot study in which students carry out their individual investigations.
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 300 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 48 hours of class support and 252 hours of independent and self directed study.
The class sessions will include formal lectures, case study analysis and group discussions based on student experiences in the subject area. Students will be encouraged to integrate their work based experiences with new knowledge and skills developed in the classroom as the module progresses.
