Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module will give students a knowledge of the scope of outdoor activity provision in the UK and give them a practical opportunity to learn and apply leadership and teamwork skills, in the context of job requirements and qualifications for students planning work in the public services.

It will also provide training in health and safety (including risk assessment), and personal skills which leaders need in running outdoor activities. Students will have the opportunity to work towards gaining various outdoor qualifications through organisations such as The Outward Bound Trust, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and voluntary organisations like Mountain Rescue.
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 36 hours of class support (including 10 hours of practical activities) and 114 hours of independent and self directed study.

The class sessions will include formal lectures, case study analysis and group discussions based on student experiences in the subject area. Students will be encouraged to integrate their work based experiences with new knowledge and skills developed in the classroom as the module progresses.
