Module Details
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT

This module will introduce students to a range of HR-based processes and practices commonly undertaken by managers involved in the day-to-day operational management of people. Topics will cover activities that reflect both the acquisition and management of talent and explore the links between individual, team and organisational performance while promoting an understanding of motivation, well-being, diversity and legal compliance.

It is also designed to cover the following sections of the Apprenticeship Standard for Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship

Managing People:
How to recruit, manage and develop people, using inclusive talent management approaches
How to use HR systems and processes to ensure legal requirements, health and safety, and well-being needs
How to set goals and manage performance
Build teams, empower and motivate others to improve performance or achieve outcomes
Delegate to others, provide clear guidance and monitor progress
Set goals and accountabilities

MODULE ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Work-Based Assignment:

Your work-based assignment will be an opportunity to identify, justify and discuss the methods you use for building, empowering, and motivating a team to achieve high levels of performance through your management style and your ability to set goals and assign accountabilities. You should also identify opportunities which you have used to delegate, for developmental purposes, and how you have monitored progress. (Learning outcomes 1-4)
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES

Scheduled learning and teaching activities: 32 hours

To consist of:
Face-to-face which will include group work, formal teaching, case study analysis, guest speakers and students will be encouraged to share their workplace experiences with others
On-line live webinars to take the form of tutorials involving opportunities for group discussion and presentation, flipped-classroom opportunities, further group work and case study analysis

Guided independent study: 168 hours

To consist of:
Accessing additional on-line content such as videos and presentations
Independent reading to consolidate knowledge gained in the formal teaching
Undertaking formative tasks set by the tutor to consolidate learning
Assessment preparation and writing and gathering evidence
Portfolio building

1. Understand how HR activities support organisational performance and legal compliance - KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

2. Demonstrate good decision-making in managing talent through processes such as recruitment and selection, effective induction, learning and development, empowerment, and well-being - LEARNING APPLICATION

3. Evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to managing individual and team performance, and the application of motivation and reward strategies in the workplace - ENQUIRY, ANALYSIS, PROBLEM-SOLVING

4. Consider the challenges of a multicultural environment and the factors that can influence and promote diversity and inclusion and communicate their relevance to your own organisation - COMMUNICATION, REFLECTION
