Module Additional Assessment Details
Reflective Journal (2,000 words) (Learning Outcomes 1 - 4) (100%)
The student will identify an individual or situation at work, to enable him / her to practice some of the techniques / models discussed. Ground rules will be agreed and the individual will not be identifiable and confidentiality guaranteed. The reflective journal will demonstrate the skills practiced and developed through the management process and the module content. The student will use feedback from the `developee' to enhance their reflection and to help identify further areas for development.

Module Indicative Content
The range of topics will include revisiting the key elements of previous modules within the Foundation Degree in HRM. The intention here is to evaluate the models and theories covered so that they may be assessed and applied appropriately in the work place.
Therefore the suggested content will include areas from the following:
- The evaluation of motivation theories
- The evaluation of leadership theories
- The evaluation of models of team development
- How to apply these to help develop an effective team and individuals
- The use of feedback to enhance or manage poor performance
- The use of 360 degree feedback to enhance personal performance
- The use of praise and recognition in developing effective team members
- Management through objective setting, feedback and action planning
- The use of appraisal techniques to enhance performance
- The use of coaching, mentoring and counselling techniques to enhance performance
- The use of different management and leadership techniques to influence team morale, efficiency and effectiveness
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 10 hours of class support and 140 hours of independent and self directed study.
There will be an initial class session to introduce the key aspects of the module content, including a summary of the blended learning material, the type of formative feedback available both through Blackboard and the Module Tutor. The nature of the summative assessment will also be examined. There will be additional tutorial support available, for students to address queries regarding the module content and to clarify any issues arising from the coursework assignment.
Students are expected to regularly engage with the blended learning material on Blackboard. This will include reading the material, undertaking additional research and formative exercises to reinforce the learning. Students will have additional support from the Module Tutor via email and phone.
