Module Indicative Content
LO1 The emerging economic outlook, industrial trends and sector profiles, labour force trends and cultural drivers. How to gather reward intelligence from internal and external sources eg evaluation and national minimum wage information. Investigate the impact of human capital, the psychological contract, intrinsic and extrinsic and total reward policy initiatives for instance equal pay, benefits pensions. Study key practices such as grade structure, integrity and financial metrics
LO2 Employee engagement and its three dimensions. Explore organisational perceptions, values, ethos, strategies and practices and why employee engagement is increasingly significant to HR policy, strategy and practices. Discretionary behaviour and organisational citizenship and their benefits for the employee and the employer
LO3 Emerging concepts of people management including HRD and HR supply chain management. Service delivery and value adding operations and processes in light of economic, quality and efficiency arguments behind third party delivery of HR services. Contracting out and outsourcing/insourcing and using consultants. Changing emphasis of HR and line management roles. KPI¿s and complementary process and tools including monitoring and evaluating data, service level agreements and contract management

Module Additional Assessment Details
PART A - LO1
A group presentation evaluating the principles of reward, identifying and explaining key policy initiatives and practices and how they support fairness and equity - maximum of 30 minutes with a further 15 minutes of questioning.
A statement of no longer than 1,000 words signed by each member of the group which identifies and confirms individual contributions and provides a collective reflection on the process of working as a team to produce and deliver the presentation.
Tutor assessment notes of the observed presentation will contribute to the overall individual grade. Weighting 33%
PART B - LO2
Individual statement of no more than 1,000 words explaining how you would measure levels of employee engagement across your organisation and the features which need to be introduced or developed in order to create and engaged workforce.
PART C - LO3
Individual comparison chart which:
a) Compares and contrasts the role and purpose of transactional HR services with transformational HR services
b) Compares and contrasts insourcing and outsoaring of HR services
c) Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using internal and external consultants
Part B/C Weighting 67%
Students must attempt all assessments and achieve an overall pass grade for the module.
