Module Additional Assessment Details
Develop a reflective log with a minimum of 3 entries which demonstrates an understanding of the reflective process following application of learning to the workplace (1500 words). In addition produce a Personal Development Plan, culminating in the identification of 4 personal development objectives for enhancing your practice as a leader/manage (500 words). (Learning outcomes 1, 2 & 3). Weighted at 100%
Module Indicative Content
The aim of this module is to introduce students to the range of skills and techniques essential for leading and managing in a business environment. Indicative areas will be include:
- Effective people management
- Perception and personality
- Communication skills
- Leadership styles
- Managing stress
- Reflective practice
- Personal styles
The module aims to facilitate work based learning through employer engagement thus promoting employability and career enhancement.
Module Learning Strategies
The learning strategy for this module requires students to commit 150 learning hours (including assessment). This will include 15 hours of class support, delivered during full day study days. The study days will introduce the subjects and summative assessment and provide support to enable examination of some aspects in more detail.
In the 135 hours of independent and self directed study students are expected to engage with the learning material on the module website, undertake additional research / reading, undertake formative tasks to reinforce the learning, relate the subject to their your workplace, have contact with their tutor and prepare coursework assignments.
It is expected that a variety of academic concepts and theories to be applied in the work environment to enhance the ability to deal with the continually changing needs of the commercial or public sector.
The class sessions will include formal lectures, case study analysis and group discussions based on student experiences in the subject area. Students will be encouraged to integrate their work based experiences with new knowledge and skills developed in the classroom as the module progresses
