Module Details
INDICATIVE CONTENT
The aim of this module is to advance students' abilities in differential diagnosis of medical disorders with particular reference to those that are likely to present in osteopathic practice. Students will learn, and to put into practice medical case history and differential diagnostic skills and link these skills to their understanding of the disease processes. The module will use case analysis as the basis for understanding medical differential diagnosis and its interface with osteopathic diagnosis.

Medical case history taking and examination, the student should be able to offer and suggest differential diagnosis in the following categories of disorders; musculo-skeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary tract disorders, nervous system disorders, eye, ear, nose and throat, endocrine and metabolic disorders, blood and lymph, skin, gynaecological and obstetric disorders.
Identify medical investigations pertinent to osteopathic practice
Review and consider the evidence in Medical research papers

ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Seen case-based exam (100%) 1 hour. Written paper, based on a simulated patient scenario that will have been distributed to students in advance of the assessment.

Students will be required to contribute to an in-class formative class discussion with peers.
