A 15 minute viva voce examination on an unseen scenario (100% of module grade) (assessing LO's 2 and 3)

Paramedic Practice Assessment (Clinical Practice Assessment Document) (pass/refer) Continuous clinical practice assessment document which will demonstrate competence in relevant areas (Meets all LO)

Both elements must be passed for successful completion of the module

Module Indicative Content
The aims of this module are to provide the student with an introduction to the clinical skills and experience relating to paramedic practice that is timely, responsive and appropriate.

The student will study the following core content;

- Primary and Secondary Surveys (including history taking)
- Assessment of patients presenting with a range of acute, chronic & minor conditions linked to all systems of life,
- An introduction to minor and major trauma & (including trauma emergencies, chest, head, abdominal & musculoskeletal trauma, thermal injuries, drowning, electrocution)
- 12 lead ECG recording & interpretation, drug guidance/administration
- Record keeping and documentation
- Emergency equipment
- Manual handling
- Infection prevention and control
- Vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, temperature, peak flow measurements, Capillary refill, Blood glucose measuring, Glasgow Coma Scale
- First aid management
- Basic airway management
- Basic life support
- Paediatric life support
- Intermediate life support
- Oxygen therapy and use of oxygen masks
- An introduction to the administration of fluids and drug therapy
- Scene management & safety
