ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
PRACTICE ASSESSMENT DOCUMENT- Covers learning outcomes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5
Contains a range of formative and summative clinical competencies which are completed under supervised practice. To achieve the competencies, students need to demonstrate knowledge and application of a range of skills. The competencies cover all learning outcomes and is given a pass/fail mark. All summative competencies need to be achieved to obtain a pass mark for the module.
VIVA VOCE- covers learning Outcome 5
A 15-minute oral examination focused on Health and Care Professions Council standards and how they apply to practice.
N.B The 15 minutes will include time for questions.
LEARNING STRATEGIES
Approximately 400 hours will comprise of ambulance practice learning experiences, under the supervision of a paramedic practice educator or other qualified paramedics. During the experience, students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding, communication, application, and problem-solving abilities, in the areas appropriate to this level of study.
Approximately two weeks will comprise of alternative practice learning experiences in a range of alternative practice or simulated settings. These experiences will provide students with the knowledge and understanding of wider health service, multi-disciplinary working, and the developing role of paramedic practice. In each of these practice areas, students will be under the supervision of an appropriate practice supervisor and will interact with a wide range of service users.
,
As preparation for practice placement, student will complete theoretical and practical components including:
• Manual handling.
• Conflict Resolution.
Students are also expected to conduct independent study as required throughout the placement periods, to ensure they have the knowledge and understanding required to achieve the competencies. They should also reflect on their practice to identify areas that require further development.

WEB DESCRIPTOR
In this module you will work under supervised practice in the clinical and/or simulated environment. You will develop your assessment, treatment, and management of patients, alongside your communications skills. This will provide hands-on experience, where you will need to demonstrate your core knowledge and understanding in a dynamic environment.
