INDICATIVE CONTENT
Topics explored will include:

Contemporary leadership theories and leadership qualities.
Clinical Governance & Patient Safety – including duty of candour and just culture.
Human factors and ergonomics – Systems and design, hierarchies, individual performance, and teamwork.
Organisational change management.
Integrated care delivery and collaborative working – including, structures & organisation cultures.
Violations and Migrations.
Fitness to Practice.
A review of health informatics.

Employability

Continued Professional Development (CPD) – Employability skills – activities may include, building a professional LinkedIn profile, creating a CV, interviewing techniques, personal statement writing, developing action and life plans.
Concepts of mentorship – leading, inspiring, and motivating others.

Social Determinants

The impact of changing demographics on healthcare.
Public health strategy and paramedic practice.
ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Summative 1: Covering learning outcomes 1,2,3, & 4.

Students will complete ONE of the following options:

20-minute presentation based on a case review, which can be provided by the tutor, or selected by the student, from practice.

20-minute viva voce (learning review) based on a case review, which can be provided by the tutor, or selected by the student, from practice.

N.B The 20 minutes will include time for questions.

Summative 2: Covering learning outcome 4.

Submission of a CPD portfolio, providing evidence to demonstrate the ability to practice safely. Students will be required to provide a minimum of three pieces of evidence of their own choosing, to demonstrate safe practice.

Formative performance development reviews as reviewee, reviewer, and observer.
Complete feedback documentation and reflection. Documentation and reflection to be added to portfolio

Contribute to continued professional development (CPD) throughout the academic year.

This module will enhance key employability skills, students will engage in employability activities that contribute to their CPD and future employment opportunities.

Seminars are utilised to encourage inclusion, interaction and diverse critical analysis.

The Paramedic practice environment is evolving into more diverse and specialist areas. Within this module, students will build upon the knowledge gained in all previous modules to consider professional development, leadership, and an overall appreciation of the complexity of systems design and patient safety. This module will support students as they transition from university to autonomous practice.
