This module creates the opportunity for you to participate in a live theatre performance through which you will connect with an audience in a professional environment. The emphasis will be on all cast members to ensure the production reflects professional industry expectations and standards; therefore, you must commit to the rehearsal process whatever role you may be playing. Professional etiquette with reference to ethics and health and safety is a mandatory requirement in order to allow the production to reach potential for all performers. All individuals will channel their own research, practical technique, skills and reflection through rehearsals and eventually to performance.

Throughout the process you will be supported by ongoing assessment in order to identify areas for development both individually and as a whole cast to meet the demands of a full-scale production. Through group discussion and workshops, you will be expected to engage in critical reflection allowing for immediate action points to be implemented. These may be informed by peer, tutor and potentially audience feedback. You will also be reflecting on group and individual dynamics, input and authenticity, development and application of character through your performance skills and those of the group.

You will be expected to engage in research, including the exploration of theoretical frameworks, to inform your creative approach to the production as a whole and your character development. Reflective practice, whether written or verbal, will be a vehicle for sharing the insights you have gained through this research and an opportunity to articulate your experiences on your journey through the creative process, including how your practice has been informed by theoretical understanding and analysis of the subject. It will address the practical considerations you faced in preparing, with others, for the application and commitment to the performance and will demonstrate your understanding and appreciation of the process of mounting a full-scale, theatrical production.

You will be assessed on your ability to work in a conscientious, supportive, committed manner - embracing etiquette, dedication, focus, research and ability to take direction and advice, together with your ability to faithfully reproduce for the stage the performance role that has been created, explored and delivered in the rehearsal process.
