MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
This level 5 module is designed to further develop and refine your dance skills, techniques and ability from Level 4. You will be assessed on your technical ability within the dance styles.

You will explore in greater detail the varied advanced and technical expectations and stylistic skills required when refining each of the different dance styles and there will be a greater emphasis on accuracy and refinement. You will revisit how each style has evolved historically and culturally whilst underpinning this with the practical expectations within an industry context. This module is designed to improve technique, stylistic qualities, performance skills, confidence and dynamics.

You will study Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Urban. You will be required to reproduce contrasting work to a professional standard through rehearsals and performances, working with ensemble members and choreographers in a coherent and supportive manner, reflective of industry practice and resulting in polished, well-rehearsed dance routines.

Weekly workshops and technical classes will allow for feedback given from peers and lecturers that will support your development within this level of dance, enhancing your overall performance whilst improving on technical aspects in order to broaden your overall dance ability that will increase your employment potential.

You will be expected to develop a warm up regime in order to prepare you for the demands of the styles in which you will be working, injury prevention and in order to aid your longevity within a dance profession.

In order to develop technique, there will be refinement, reflective practice and collaborative working and this should be documented with particular attention to your own journey and how you work with others.
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning in this module should build on the knowledge and skills that you developed at level 4 of your studies and the emphasis is placed on practical work, in order that you can explore techniques and processes with greater breadth and depth. You will learn by doing and will have the opportunity to explore and experiment during practical activities, enabling you to experiment in the application of theory, and teach you how to compare dance styles and techniques. Your learning will be supported by frequent formative feedback from tutors and peers, as well as your own reflective practice.

Active learning will be facilitated through workshops including demonstrations and studio tutorials, with teachers and visiting practitioners. However, there will be an increasing expectation that you work imaginatively, with independence and responsibility. There will be a mix of individual and collaborative learning, in-class and outside of timetabled sessions.

Therefore, learning activities will typically include:
¿ Participation in workshops - exploring the requirements of the integration of skills and techniques
¿ Dance classes
¿ Health and safety recap
¿ Workshops with guest speakers / dancers and choreographers
¿ individual and group rehearsal and performance within a studio setting
¿ Reflective practice and target setting
¿ Group discussion and reflection
¿ Tutorials
