MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Apply appropriate performance vocabularies, skills, techniques, contexts and working methods.

MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1: Performance (70%) [LOs 1,2,3]
A public theatre performance that is the culmination of rehearsals and workshops leading to a performance to an audience.
Assessment 2: Evaluation (30%) [LO 4]
A 1500-word evaluation of your personal contribution and performance within the module drawing upon broader perspectives on contemporary performance, creative intention and social context.

MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
This module focuses on contemporary performance styles and develops core knowledge and understanding of theatrical contexts and concepts. Within the module you will unpick contemporary/innovative approaches to then apply these within a production context for an audience under the guidance of staff or guest directors.
You will be required to consider the implications of differing approaches within the contemporary arena to further analyse and challenge existing theories and approaches. You will also demonstrate an awareness of safe practice (such as health and safety and intimacy awareness) in both rehearsal and performance contexts.
The module content will be determined by the chosen production and genre.
You will be expected to:
- Work with professionalism throughout rehearsal and performance
- Attend all scheduled rehearsals (independent and tutor led)
- Apply and contextualise rehearsal and performance processes.
- Learn lines and performance content according to your role
- Actively engage and contribute to discussion and problem solving with both peers and the creative team
- Carry out independent research in order to inform your practice
- Demonstrate respect and safe working practices within rehearsal and production context
- Critically reflect and evaluative your personal performance practice within broader contexts

In this module you will be given the opportunity to work collaboratively with a professional creative team on a contemporary theatre performance. Using skills and techniques learned throughout the course you will bring a play from page to stage.

Strategies in this module place an emphasis on both practical and theoretical work, in order that learning is focussed on building creative and technical skills associated with rehearsing and performing a theatre performance and is supported by a knowledge and understanding of the challenges facing and opportunities arising in contemporary performance.
