Module Details
MODULE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Acquire a range of key physical, vocal, technical/digital and performative skills specific to acting and theatre performance.
2. Communicate knowledge and understanding of the history and development of theatre making and performance practices.
3. Research, analyse and evaluate the impact of experimental and innovative theatre practitioners.
MODULE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Assessment 1: Research task [LOs 2 &3]
An 800 word or 10-minute verbally presented research project on a negotiated and agreed area of drama, acting or theatre making based on the module themes.

[L.O. 1] Assessment 2: Practical etudes
Negotiated practical performance assessment/s to evidence and demonstrate the application of core skills, 60-minute duration in total. The content and form of the practice will be negotiated and agreed between you and the module tutor, and a learning agreement will be established so expectations are clear.
MODULE INDICATIVE CONTENT
In this module, you will develop a deeper and wider range of theatre techniques and skills in acting and theatre making, building out of Performance Skills 1 at Level 4, but with an increased focus on digital and recorded environments, such as film, virtual production, animation and MoCap amongst others. These will also include advanced classes and skills technique workshops in voice, embodiment, acting, design and scenography and combat work.

You will also work as a performer with the creative media students in a multi-cam studio environment as part of the Media Production: Drama and Documentary module and animators on the Creature Anatomy and Character Creation modules.

Workshops may include: -
- Anatomy & Physiology (Body and Voice),
- Acting for Camera
- Acting for MoCap
- Acting for Animation and Narration
- Performing in recorded and digital contexts
- Embodiment and somatic practice
- Design and Scenography for theatre makers.
- Combat for Stage and Screen

You will also be introduced to continued technical instruction skills in basic editing and camera / sound operation work, including for independence in studio contexts such as sound, VP and MoCap spaces
WEB DESCRIPTOR
Further your performance and theatre making skills in your second year, concentrating more on digital and recorded environment, such as animation and MoCap. Through dynamic classes in acting, voice and movement our experienced lecturers and guest practitioners will support you to further develop your existing skills and encourage you to reach your potential.
MODULE LEARNING STRATEGIES
You will learn from actively engaging with timetabled classes in studio and classroom settings, developing and advancing fundamental performance skills and actively exploring a variety of relevant strategies to develop, inform and sustain this intensive practice. You will be required to continually reflect upon your personal skills development and identify areas for improvement. Your learning will be supported by frequent feedback from tutors and peers, as well as your own reflective practice.
