Module Indicative Content
The module provides a basic introduction to the 35mm Digital SLR camera technologies and techniques.
You will be taught through a mixture of lectures, technical instructions and workshop-based deliveries.
Instruction in 35mm digital SLR cameras, digital workflow and digital management software will be specifically aimed for the specialism of photojournalism.
Instruction surrounding the digital camera will be given in the basic principles of lens aperture, depth of field, exposure, metering, filtration, shutter speeds, light sources, colour temperature, on-camera flash and effective use of digital camera menus. The 'computing' element of this module will cover a basic introduction to computing workshops and digital capture and input/output for digital images. There will also be specific lectures for image management software.
The technical instruction and technical lecture component to this module constitutes Health and Safety prerequisites that allows you loan provision for the cameras covered.
You will be working towards an evaluative test and towards producing a set of photographs, that reflect taught and researched digital imaging techniques using specific software and cameras.

Module Additional Assessment Details
Coursework will consist of:-
1. A set of edited contact sheets and either a CD or DVD of the images that clearly demonstrate your understanding and competence in using both taught and researched digital imaging techniques.

2. A technical test, designed to test knowledge taught on the module. (Learning outcomes 2 & 3)
