Module Indicative Content
The module provides further development of Digital imaging skills, and will give you a comprehensive introduction to professional skills in colour management, digital workflow and basic web design for photographers. You will further build on skills learn in Image technologies 1, bringing Digital 35mm SLR camera skills to an intermediate level. Through computing workshops you will be instructed in Adobe Photoshop CS3, stages 3,4,5, and advanced digital printing skills both in colour and black and white.
You will be taught through a mixture of lectures, workshops and tutorials. Instruction will be given with examples in advanced use of digital 35mm SLR cameras where you will explore the various available camera functions and how they can be strategically used at an intermediate/ advanced level. You will be introduced to colour management and be taught how to get the most of different digital print techniques like HDR.
You will be working to produce a portfolio of photographs both as printed and on a CD or DVD and a carefully researched, illustrated and produced technical manual for assessment.
Module Additional Assessment Details
You will present the following coursework for assessment:
1. A a printed portfolio of images and a CD or DVD containing digitally processed photographs that clearly demonstrate your understanding and competence in using the taught photographic techniques (Learning Outcomes 2 & 3).
2. A Technical Manual. This will be word processed, illustrated and carefully produced to demonstrate your understanding and competence in researching Digital imaging, manipulation, work flow and management techniques (Learning Outcome 1).
