Module Details
Module Indicative Content
This module provides you with an introduction to the camera and a basic understanding and practice in using film and digital photographic technologies.
You will be working with 35mm film and digital cameras to produce a portfolio of photographs and a written and illustrated technical dossier. You will also be introduced to the medium format camera. Working through lectures, workshops, tutorials and a supervised field trip you will be instructed in the use of camera controls and menus, exposure, lens apertures and depth of field, shutter speeds and movement, film selection, lens selection, filters and their use and on-camera flash lighting techniques.

You will present the following coursework for assessment:
An A4 size portfolio of 12 photographs that demonstrate your competence in the use and understanding of the taught photographic techniques [Learning Outcomes 1,2]
An A4 size technical dossier that is word processed and suitably illustrated that documents your technical and photographic practitioner research. [Learning Outcomes 1,3]
