You will present the following coursework for assessment including:
1. A set of `Evaluation: Technical¿ documents that clearly describe your competence in the application of key photographic techniques as taught during this module. This will also include the submission of negatives and contact sheets (Learning Outcomes 1 & 2).

2. A `Technical Test¿ designed to reflect your understanding of particular technical aspects of camera use and personal visualisation (Learning Outcome 3).

Module Indicative Content
This module provides an introduction to the 35mm SLR camera technologies and photographic craft. You will be given instruction in the use of 35mm film, a basic introduction to the digital camera, and both the chemical black/white and colour darkrooms. An introduction to the computing workshops will facilitate input and output controls for digital material.

You will be taught through a mixture of lectures, technical instruction and workshop based deliveries. Camera instruction relevant for both analogue and digital technologies, will include; types of cameras/lenses, the principles of lens aperture, depth of field, exposure, metering, filtration, shutter speeds, light sources and colour temperature.

The technical instruction component to this module constitutes the Health and Safety prerequisites that allows you loan provision for the particular cameras covered and access to all of the print process facilities and computer workshops.
