Module Indicative Content
This module provides an introduction to the basics of photographic craft utilising digital imaging skills. Instruction in the use of DSLR Cameras will cover areas relevant to both digital and analogue technologies. Typically these will include subjects like: types of digital cameras and there uses, lenses, the principles of lens aperture, depth of field, exposure, metering, filtration, shutter speeds, light sources and colour temperature. Through computing workshops you will be instructed in Adobe Photoshop. With the inherent complexity of the Adobe package it is imperative to establish an appropriate and consistent working method for image production and therefore you will be considering what basic 'image adjustments' are essential in establishing a good photographic practice.
This will enable you to begin to formulate and to make decisions about a more 'personalised' and professional way of working. You will be taught through a mixture of lectures, technical instructions and practical workshop based deliveries. The technical instruction component to this module constitutes the Health and Safety pre-requisites that allows you loan provision for the particular cameras covered and access to all computer workshops.
