INDICATIVE CONTENT
This is a wide-ranging module that consolidates learning in relation to the concepts and practicalities of being a Police Constable, including:

ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT DETAILS
Students will complete an operational knowledge check comprising of 50 questions that assesses their knowledge and understanding of all the module learning outcomes.

LEARNING STRATEGIES
Learning for this module will be based around students committing 40 hours of off-the-job learning this being split between 40 hours of direct contact with teaching staff and 40 hours of independent study and workplace learning.

The module will be delivered through a combination of lectures, workshops, and practical exercises. Students will be encouraged to engage in group discussions, peer review, and communication exercises. There will be regular sessions of formative assessment and academic support/tutorials will be available throughout the module. They will also have access to online resources and guidance for academic writing, data visualization, and digital communication.

WEB DESCRIPTOR
This module introduces the learner to the role that response policing plays in the delivery of a uniformed, visible police service within communities. It also examines the roles and responsibilities associated with policing the roads, exploring in depth legislation and policing powers, road safety and denying criminals the use of the road network. The importance of collaborative working at major scenes through joint operability procedures with other emergency services will also be explored. In addition, delivery of the following topics is included:

Understanding how to deal with issues of vulnerability when attending an incident as a first responder

Safe and lawful searches of person, vehicle and premises, including detention and transportation

Understanding and applying legislation relevant to public order policing

The importance of recording decisions and assessing risk.
